Hoodoo Highball consists of four members from Charleston, SC, that have been integral parts of the bedrock of the local and regional music scene since the 1970’s. Mike Sullivan – bass, vocals – and Howie Ferguson – drums, vocals – started several bands that eventually morphed into Acropolis, and soon afterwards added David Eade – keyboards, guitar, vocals. Acropolis quickly became the most popular band in the Charleston area and eventually outgrew the local scene and hit the road in 1978, traveling in a customized Greyhound bus. In addition to Mike, David, and Howie, members of Acropolis included local favorites Johnny Mac and Ronnie Garvin. Acropolis was inducted into the Lowcountry Music Hall of Fame in 2022. In the meantime, John Tobin – guitar, vocals – was blowing people away with his talent in bands such as fusion band Quick, and party bands 9th Row, 17 South, The Rivieras, as well as with Lowcountry Music Hall of Famers Second Wind.
After Acropolis broke up in 1980, David toured with The Grass Roots, while Howie joined local band The Parrots. David joined The Parrots as well later on for a brief period.
